When it comes to choosing what kind of coverage you want from your makeup, it always depends on the day. Normally you'll hear beauty gurus, bloggers and youtubers recommending sheer coverage products for you "good skin days", which is totally logical. Where my opinion differs from the average person is what to do when you have "bad skin days". For a lot of people, those are the days to whip out the full coverage foundations and heavy duty concealer, I completely disagree with this. So here are my choices for makeup on good, medium and bad skin days!
GOOD DAYS
On those blessed days, where you have no spots or discoloration, no dry patches and your skin isn't looking dull, I agree with all the other beauty lovers. I say, go with a sheer coverage product that's dewy, this way your enhancing your skin, making it go from good to flawless.
On these days I reach for a foundation such as the Rimmel wake me up foundation and a concealer such as the Rimmel match perfection concealer.
MEDIUM/DECENT DAYS
These are the days where you've got a few pesky spots, maybe a bit of dryness, and your complexion is just looking a tad blah. On these days I put my full coverage products to use. My theory is that on your decent skin days, the right amount of coverage can salvage your skin, making it go from, not so good, to good.
On these days I will put my M.A.C studio fix fluid foundation to good use, along with either my M.A.C pro-longwear concealer or my Nars radiant creamy concealer.
BAD DAYS
Everyone has those days where your skin is looking dull, dry or oily. Maybe you've got a few spots hanging around as well. Your skins just not looking its best. Unlike a lot of people, I choose these days to give my skin a well deserved break from makeup. This may sound weird, since most people think that your bad skin days are the days to use your most high coverage products, but that will only make your skin worse. I know it's hard to go to school or work without any makeup hiding your imperfections, but it will end up doing you a world of good. Plus, you'll avoid the horrible, bumpy, cakey appearance of makeup smeared all over blemishes.
On these days I always make sure I have my travel size Clinique dramatically different moisturizing lotion, for my dry skin. If you have oily skin maybe carry some blotting sheets. A lastly I make sure I have my La Roche Posay effaclar duo, acne treatment, to sooth redness and puffiness throughout the day.
I hope this little piece of beauty advice will help you in some way! We all have bad skin days, it's completely normal, but if you follow my advice I promise your skin will thank you! I am not a makeup or skin care expert, simply a passionate, beauty obsessed girl. But trust me, I've learned a lot about skin care in my years.
Thanks so much for reading and have a great day!
