New Year New Emeroo

Something is definitely different...

Happy new year and welcome to the brand new emeroo!
If you're reading on a mobile device it may not look all that different to you, so I would recommend checking it out on your laptop instead. There are some pretty big changes and I couldn't be happier. You may notice a crisper colour scheme, more intricate home page and of course the incredible new "Shop My Style" element of this blog. From now on I'll be connecting you to the pieces you see in my posts. They may not be an exact match, but they are replicas and dupes that I've hand picked myself. What are friends for if not enticing everyone to shop?

I have a clear vision for emeroo this year and I can't wait to take you all along for the ride. To start off the new year and the new emeroo, I thought I'd share with you my 5 new years resolutions. I know resolutions can be unrealistically optimistic, but I don't see anything wrong with a little optimism. In fact, I don't think anything would ever get accomplished without it.

Enjoy.

1. Spend Less Save More

It's the never ending tale of the broke student, just trying to avoid debt. This year, saving for school will be a main priority, but on top of that, I think I've finally grown out of my more is more phase. No longer are my priorities to have to biggest makeup collection or to buy heaps of new clothes for the soul purpose of doing a massive haul. Sharing the ridiculously high price you paid for something with social media acquaintances while simultaneously whining about having no money just doesn't make much sense to me anymore. Of course I'll still shop from time to time, but I've finally come to the conclusion that I'd rather have a small collection of things I truly love and use every day.

2. Experiment with Fashion and Beauty

This goal goes hand in hand with the challenge of not caring what people think. When it comes to fashion, I sometimes worry how experimental I can be without giving people a reason to judge. As I age I'm constantly learning more and more about myself and one of the greatest joys in my life is projecting who I am in my style. Sometimes I'd rather have my clothes, hair and makeup speak for me. What exactly do they say? I'm not quite sure, but I'll never know if I don't step out of my comfort zone, take some risks and express exactly how I'm feeling. Take today for example. Sometimes you're just in the mood to wear a killer army green bomber with a lux fur collar. We've all been there right?

3. Live in the Moment

I'm hoping this particular goal won't cause my social media (and my Instagram stories) to take a serious hit. My guilty pleasure is sharing my style and blogging related activities on social media, but sometimes it's just not worth snap chatting. I have to remember to stop and think "does anyone really need to see this"? Not that I'm posting for anyone but myself, but it's definitely something for all of us to think about. Sure, you'll know when my cat does something super cute or a new blog post comes out or a weekend with friends was just too good not to share. But I sincerely hope that among those post worthy times and also during the times just for me, I soak in every second of it, and remember it forever.

4. Prioritize the Things that Really Matter

It's easy to get caught up in new and exciting things or maybe new and exciting people. But this year I plan to stay as focused as I can on the things and the people that really matter to me, and are going to help me to learn, grow and succeed. Surrounding yourself with people, circumstances or duties that do anything less is simply a waste of time.

5. Take Care of Myself

Eat healthy, work out, make time for "me". We've all heard it a million times. Sure those are timeless goals but I'm more so aiming to make choices that are going to better myself. Should I watch an episode of Friends that I've seen countless times or should I read an article about a new cashmere line or a woman and her award winning garden in the south of France? Should I spend the few moments before sleep scrolling through Instagram or should I turn my phone on silent and meditate? I think you get the picture.

Please let me know what your new years resolutions are in the comment below as well as what you think of the new emeroo!

Here's to an amazing 2016, and an ever better year to come.

Thanks for reading.
