My Life is About to Change

Change is meant to be a bit scary. That’s what I’ve started to tell myself over the past few days, as the biggest change I’ve experienced thus far is coming nearer and nearer by the second.

Enough with the secrecy, right!? The change I’m referring to is a move of sorts. I’m moving, temporarily, to England to go to school! This has been in the works for over a year now, and the final days until I step onto the tarmac are finally here.

You know those joke posters of a dog's brain, where it's split into sections such as treats, walks, and cuddles. Well, if one were to split up my brain into my own relative categories, I imagine the section labelled "England" would be about equal size to that of "Treats" for any average pup. It's nearly all I ever think about, is what I'm trying to get at. But up until around the "15 days until I leave" mark, the thoughts that flooded my mind were of packing, carry on beauty essentials, how I plan to decorate my dorm, and what outfit would perfectly marry comfort and Instagram-ability for the plane ride there (hint; expect that outfit to include the Joah Brown sweatshirt you see here). Now, however, as I spend the last remaining days of 2018 surrounded by family and friends, soaking up the comforts of home, I'm beginning to fill with the inevitable fluttering feeling of nerves.

Though the stress from limited packing room is very much still here, I'm beginning to wonder if I've overestimated by ability to be independent. Will I really eat as healthily as I plan to when I'm gone? Am I actually going to work out every day, and blog, and record, and study, and do it all on my own to boot? Maybe not everyday, but I have hope I'll settle into some sort of routine just as I do at home. There is one very insignificant area of land on this wide earth where everyone knows my name, and I'm finally getting the opportunity to be somewhere where that isn't the case. As far as fresh starts go, this is the step I so badly need. But to brush off a change like this as something that will be easy would be foolish, and I know that. All I can do for now Is prepare myself for the hardships to come, realize how incredibly lucky I am to be studying abroad (in the company of two incredible friends as well), and get excited.

What can you expect now that the secret is out?! I'm thrilled to start producing more travel related content, a new podcast series over the course of my semester abroad, and obviously plenty of Instagram stories. Whoever you are, I want to bring you along for this journey.
