Elevating Tee Shirts & Jeans

Dear fashion Gods (I assume there are multiple of you): Please never allow jeans and tee-shirts to go out of style. May they remain a style staple, accepted across boarders, keeping us comfortable and giving us hope when there just isn't anything else to wear.

I'm thoroughly excited to chat with you today about a topic you all know is near and dear to my heart. Nearly every time the routine of getting dressed comes around, I have the desire to put together an outfit that stands out, makes a statement, or is Instagram worthy (I type this while rolling my eyes in spite of myself). And nearly every time I end up putting something on that I just don't feel like myself in.
*Insert tee shirt and jeans combination.

It's not that I lose the desire to look stylish, I'm just accepting the fact that I want to be confident and comfortable throughout the day. Tucking in a beloved concert tee into flawlessly fitted jeans is not a fashion surrendering act, but it can become a habit that keeps you from experimenting with style. It may not be this exact combination for you, but you get the idea. The solution to this is simple; trick of the eye. "What a cool look", they'll say (yes, I do imagine this is what strangers think to themselves when I walk by), when in reality it's just a spiced up version of your daily uniform.

Today, raw-hem denim has been swapped out for a posh pair of creamy straight-leg cotton trousers that have the structure and texture of soft denim. It is still summer time so I've tied the front of this concert tee to show just a tad of tummy. I love a monochrome white/cream ensemble because it's fresh and eye catching, but not overly complicated.

No, this shirt is not in support of guns, it's a clever nod to a clever lyric; "kids don't want rifles, they want Supreme", from the song I Like America and America Likes Me by The 1975. Exchanging a pair of white tennis sneakers for platform Dr. Martens sandals and throwing on a boxy military style cross-body rounds off this elevated take on my daily uniform. I'm still comfortable and confident, I just have a fresh coat of paint.

Thanks for reading.
