I think everyone finds someway of another to feel sorry for themselves around the holidays, which is silly since it is the time for giving thanks, but I don't think you can always help it. If your single, you'll probably be like me and find yourself noticing more and more happy couples around you, and they can be very annoying. But I'd try my best to just think, it's one less gift you have to buy. I know that can be hard, especially with all these pictures in your head of the perfect holiday romance, but when you really think about it, it's pretty overrated.
If your not near any family this Christmas, I can't pretend that that's not going to be difficult. But there are ways to enjoy the holidays still. Try to get busy, whether that's with baking, crafting, decorating, shopping, singing Christmas songs, watching holiday films or reading a good book. There are so many things that can help you get into the spirit. Try your best to connect with loved ones, even if there's tension, this is the perfect time to mend it. If you feel completely alone, with no one to go to, don't loose hope, there is always a place where you will be welcome. The best place to go, I think, would be your local church. And trust me I'm not the worlds #1 christian, but I know that church is a place where I will always feel welcome. Even if you don't feel welcome or are not super religious, they will be happy to welcome into their family, trust me.
If your family, or group of friends, don't do any fun things around the holidays, then how about YOU be the one to get them into the spirit. Organize a singalong party, or encourage some festive group activities like decorating gingerbread houses or going for a drive to see the lights. Even the smallest push can make a huge difference in yours and your family's holiday experience.
I hope you have a wonderful holiday. Stay tuned for more Christmas themed posts!
Thanks so much for reading and have a great day!
