Sometimes we can forget to be thankful for all the wonderful things and people in our lives. I'm particularly guilty of this. I'm always so wrapped up in my own business that I never stop to think about all the things I have to be grateful for. I'm pretty sure I'm not alone on this so I thought I would share with you a few simple ways to give thanks in your everyday life.
1. Make Someone's Day
A nice, simply way to give thanks to all the marvelous people in your life is to leave or send them a note of thanks. Who wouldn't appreciate a little note on their desk saying "Thanks for always being an awesome friend", or a text saying "your amazing, I don't think you get told that enough". Little things like this are sure to make someone feel special.
2. No Words Needed
Another easy way to give thanks is simply to give someone a hug. It may seems weird to some people, but you'd be surprised what a difference it can make in someone's day! When you greet someone special with a hug, they might be surprised but they'll definitely be happy.
3. Just For You
Not all my ways to give thanks are directly to other people. Something I love to do is write down all the things I have to be thankful for. Whether that be people, groups, opportunities, items, pets, etc. A great thing to do is start a list, then every night before you go to bed, to add a few more things to the it. It's a great way to reflect on how fortunate you are and also plant lovely pictures of all the wonderful things in your life in your head while you drift off to sleep.
4. Give Back
This last way is probably the hardest, but it's totally worth the effort. An awesome way to give thanks is to go out of your way to do something nice for someone you care about. For example, get up extra early to make your mom, dad, sibling, etc, a tasty breakfast or warm cup of tea or coffee. If the kitchens not where you shine, you could tidy up your house before anybody comes home, they will be so appreciative of the work you've done. The gesture doesn't have to be huge, just something that will show someone how much they mean to you.
And so, if you feel like you don't give thanks enough, or you just want to do something nice for yourself or others, use these tips. Doing good things for other will make them smile and you smile, it's a win win.
