First I was completely focused on brightening my dull
skin so I used the St.Ives even and bright scrub and it really worked well as
an exfoliator and it did help to make me look more awake and vibrant.
BUT, when I finished it up I decided not to go back since it was just a
little to harsh for an everyday cleanser.
So the St Ives streak was over and I moved on to what
I thought were bigger and better things.
But it turned out to only be bigger, not exactly better. I started
using the Philosophy Purity Made Simple gel cleanser and I loved it at first. My skin
was looking great acne wise but I did notice a different change the longer I
used it. My skin was getting dryer and dryer by the day. This cleanser
was totally stripping my skin of all its moisture. Not exactly something
you want during the cold winter months. I did some research and
apparently gel cleansers should only be used if you have oily skin, WHO
KNEW? I bet your all shaking your heads at me right now for not knowing
that. Anyway, I've set that cleanser aside for the odd greasy day of
summer where it might come in handy.
So here I was, with my
dry, cracking, unhappy skin, looking for something to calm it down. I
was currently on holiday at Sparkling Hill Resort (check out my blog
post on that trip after your done reading this ;) and I got very
intrigued by the skin care brand that is sold there. It's all very fancy
and French (and quite pricey too, this cleanser was almost 40$ eek!)
so, naturally I was expecting amazing results.
I went with the cream cleanser so that it would help soothe my
dry skin and it totally worked. I ended up loving the cleanser for that
reason and used up until about a week ago when I realized that it may
be keeping my skin from getting dry but it wasn't doing a thorough job
of cleaning my skin. I was totally breaking out and I knew I had to
switch to something that would do a better job.
I found this
Elizabeth Arden cream cleanser in the back of my drawer
(which I totally forgot to include in this picture, oops, but here's the link).
I remember getting it in one of those kits from The Bay,
the ones where you spend acertain amount and you get a bunch of sample
stuff for free in a little makeup bag.
Anyway, I thought to myself "what have I got to loose?"
All my other cleaners weren't working for my skin and I
wasn't prepared to go out and buy another one so I went for it, not
expecting much. Well, since I've used this my skin a cleared up plus
it's still kept its moisture. I'm so happy that's I've finally found
that balance.
I think the point of me telling you all this is
that you have to find something that's going to work for all your skins
needs. You don't want to do what I did and go through 3 different
products in order to figure that out. It's just like what I said in my
"why is skin care so confusing" post a few weeks back, if you go basic
and use products that are simple then your going to get the best
results.
Thanks so much for reading and have a beautiful day
