How To Properly Clean Your Makeup Brushes

Are you one of those people that think, "I don't really need to wash my makeup brushes. They're fine, they're not going to do any harm", then I'm sorry to be the one to tell you this but you are terribly mistaken. It is vital to regularly clean your makeup brushes, not only to get better results when you apply your makeup, but also to avoid the spread of the bacteria. I've noticed that I tend to break out when my brushes haven't been cleaned in a while. So, here is my full proof, never fail way to make sure your brushes stay clean, soft, hygienic and in tip top shape.

Enjoy.

EW. Dirty brushes! Not for long...

Sephora Daily Brush Cleaner

For everyday cleaning I absolutely LOVE the Sephora Daily Brush Cleaner. It's a wonderful, oily liquid cleanser that is perfect for using every day. I use it for general cleaning of face brushes or getting colour off of eye and cheek brushes in order to use different colours. It doesn't make you're brushes feel wet at all, after cleaning your brushes feel soft, dry and ready to get to work.
Here's how I use it.

Spray on to a tissue or towel (I use about 3 sprays for face brushes, 2 for eye brushes).

Using circular motions and medium pressure, rub the brush into the tissue, cleaning at every angle.

All Clean and ready to use!

On the first Saturday of every month can you guess what I'm doing? While others are out having a grand old time, I'm hard at work cleaning my many brushes. I think it's so important to do a deep clean once a month. No more often then that. For a thorough clean I recommend using the BlenderCleanser Solid by Beauty Blender. It is the easiest brush cleaner I've used. It's quick, mess free and leaves your brushes super clean, soft and smelling like lavender. It's not just perfect for your Beauty Blender, but for all your brushes.
Here's how I use it.

Wet your solid cleanser.

Wet your brush.

Using circular motions and medium pressure, rub the top of the brush into the soap, making sure to clean at all angles, including the inner part of the brush.

Gently rinse all the soap out of your brush. Make sure you get it all out!

Now go clean the rest!!

Now lay out all your wet brushes onto a clean towel and wait for them to dry. I recommend cleaning in the evening and then leaving them to dry over night.

I hope this has been helpful and that you've all been inspired to go and wash your brushes. That's a fun thing to do on a Saturday night am I right? You all probably think I'm either crazy or have no friends hahaha. Don't worry, it's only once a month, and who doesn't love some quality time with your beloved makeup brushes?

Thanks for reading.
