Catwalk-to-Sidewalk With Bottega Veneta

I'm so excited and proud to be releasing my first ever public review of a designer's collection. Though this past fashion month has been labelled as "lackluster" or "underwhelming", I gathered tons of inspiration for street style from many of the collections, even if they weren't the most groundbreaking. Here's what I thought of the Bottega Veneta Fall 2016 collection and how we can adapt the most stand-out look from this collection into everyday life.

Enjoy.

Bottega Veneta Fall 2016 Ready-to-Wear

I adore the idea of piecing together a look made up of vintage fabrics that feel as though you've swiped them from your once very stylish grandmother. Not to say that your grandmother isn't still stylish. But that's beyond the point. This season, Bottega Veneta did a stunning job of making thick, chunky fabrics and silhouettes into something feminine and wearable. My personal favorites being the classically styled coats and knitwear, which again looked re-vamped from something dusty and tired into something elegant. The showing of silk pleated skirts added movement to the vintage flair of the collection. The dresses were intricate, streamlined and beautifully professional. Large leather bags were practical along side straight leg trousers and double breasted suit jackets. A thin scarf wound round the neck and thrown busily over the shoulder completed the sexy look. It was very reminiscent of the YSL Le Smoking in a way, just more modern.
Overall, he allowed an airiness and charm into something that could have been a bit heavy for my taste.
My one word to describe this collection?
Revival.

Though this was a fall collection, and it is most certainly not fall, I'm quite impatient when it comes to new fashion. When I see something malleable, something I can play with, I immediately do so. So let's have some fun with fashion, bringing Bottega Veneta from the catwalk to the sidewalk.

This entire look is basically my personal fashion cheat sheet. You can't go wrong with pin straight hair and a middle part. All black is instantly classy and minimalist (sorry to disagree with Anna Wintour, who doesn't approve of all black ensembles). Throw on some super edgy, statement boots as a nod to Marc Jacob's romantically Gothic fall 2016 collection. And when in doubt for makeup, and bold lip and huge sunglasses gives off this sexy, mysterious persona. What's hiding behind the shades? Only you know. But between your untouchable pout and sleek outfit, no would ever guess that you just didn't have time to do your eye makeup.

I hope you all enjoyed the first of many "Catwalk to Sidewalk" posts. Let me know what you thought in the comments below as well as what your favorite collections were from fashion month (my list of favorites will be live soon).

Thank for reading.
