Thanks to the sweeping trend of sport inspired style, achieving a look that can carry you from the gym to street is ten times easier. Anyone and everyone has been going nuts for this new way of dressing. Unlike any mundane trend that ebbs and flows out of view, this particular one doesn't change the way we dress, but more so the mindset we have about personal style. Before I started to embrace this trend, I was naive in my dressing, and rarely went outside my comfort zone of preppy, girly and sometimes edgy clothing choices. Thanks to the outstanding designers who have molded and shaped this trend into an endless amount of style opportunities, my eyes have been opened to a whole new genre of dressing. It's casual, effortless, but unmistakably cool. And it keeps popping up wherever you go. With designers like Stella McCartney, Raf Simons, Rick Owens, Jeremy Scott and of course, Yeezy, doing collaborations with Adidas, followed by people such as Tory Burch and Beyonce creating their own active wear lines, this epidemic of a trend is hard to ignore.
Enjoy.
It's clear that this major variable in fashion isn't going anywhere. Works for me, since this has caused my personal style to grow and evolve substantially. White, snakeskin sneakers never would have been on my wish list a year ago. Now, I wear them with everything from joggers to dresses. Sport inspired fashion doesn't have to mean wearing a soccer style jacket like I am here, but simply allowing the aesthetic of this genre of fashion to work its way into your wardrobe. This way of dressing is heavily shown in the complicated art of street style. Through street style photography on social media, especially Pinterest, anyone can find the inspiration they need to adopt this new trend.
In the end, personal style should be about experimenting and having fun, and I can promise you this; allowing the influence of sport and active wear into you're everyday style will elevate the way you dress and open up a whole world of fashion possibilities.

Enjoy.
In the midst of preparing this post, my Vogue for April came in the mail. I decided to take a break from writing and have a flip through the glossy pages that I worship so much. Can you guess what I found? After I had a good drool over all the adds in the front quarter of the magazine, I came up to Anna Wintour's letter from the editor. Was it simply a coincidence that she, the goddess of Vogue, would be talking about the influence sport style has on fashion today? She completely backed up the point I had already made, saying "the real story is about much more than the stylistic appropriation of hoods, sneaker soles and track pants. It is instead about where we are today - dressing for a world where there has never been a greater fusion of speed, technology, mobility, well-being, diversity, the democracy of the street, and, yes, looking good."
Couldn't have said it better myself.
