If I Had to Have a Capsule Wardrobe

I see the appeal of the capsule wardrobe, but I would never be able to pull it off. I take pride in the variety in my wardrobe. Simplifying my style to that extent is nice idea, but isn't in the cards for me. Although, the idea does intrigue me, so I thought I would play dress up for the day, and see what the capsule wardrobe life would be like, and what I would put in it.

If you are unfamiliar with the concept of a capsule wardrobe, it is basically a collection of a few essential items of clothing that will never go out of fashion. With these items filling your closet, you have little need for overflow, merely the occasional statement piece or two, but that's it!

I suppose this is just another way of sharing my absolute favorite pieces in my wardrobe. Either way, these are the things I could not live without, capsule wardrobe or not.

Enjoy.

Coats & Jackets

Black Leather Jacket:

This is a piece that I most certainly could never live without. That may be why I don't own one, but three different black leather jackets. I find them the most easy piece to throw over anything. If I had to choose only one form of jacket to wear for the rest of my life it would without a doubt be leather and black.

Nude Duster:

It's been quite some time since this clean cut piece was last featured on emeroo. Concocting my capsule wardrobe has gotten me reminiscing of the days when I didn't leave the house without my trusty nude duster coat. It is such a versatile yet striking, attention grabbing piece. How could I possibly not include it?

Pants

Mid Wash Skinny Jean:

I'm sure if any women or young lady were writing this post, they'd have a skinny jean on the list. I wear mine at least once a week and would be unequipped to style myself without them.

Mom Jeans:

When I ordered these jeans from ASOS over a year ago, I never knew the impact they would have on me. I feel as though they've opened up secret passageways to so many versions of myself and my style. If I owned only one pair of pants, these would take the spot in a heartbeat.

Black Skinny Jeans:

My Topshop Joni Jeans may be the most highly recognizable piece of clothing on this blog. It's inevitable that they will keep showing up, and there's a perfectly good reason for that. THEY'RE FREAKING INCREDIBLE!

Tops

White Tee:

A plain white tee is the piece you fall back on, the one that will always be there when you need it.

White Shirt:

Like the white tee, it's your best friend, and ensures that you will look put together and streamlined. Isn't that what we all look for in a friend anyway?

Shoes

Sneakers:

These are getting up there with the Joni jeans in occurrence. If you haven't already, read this post, it says it all.

Nude Heels:

I obviously had to include a heel of some kind. Heels always put me in a better mood, there's no way I could live without them. I originally was going to select my infamous Guess nude court shoes, but I wanted to be completely honest throughout this post if I really only owned these pieces. Though I love those shoes with all my heart (even after my cat chewed on one of the pointed toes), they are not the most comfortable heels to walk in. As their replacement I've chosen a fairly new edition to my wardrobe but a cherished one all the same. These check of the nude box and the heel box, AND I survive a full day in them.

Ankle Boots:

Though not the most exciting piece in my opinion, I would be kidding myself if I didn't include them. They really are an essential.

Accessories

Watch:

Everyone needs a great watch, it's pretty much a basic human necessity.

Bracelets:

You'll rarely see me with multiple pieces of jewelry on. It's just not apart of my every day attire, but you will never see me without my bracelets.

Full Body

Body Con Midi Dress:

I thought it would be more difficult to choose only one dress for this post. Turns out, my mind was already made up. This stripped midi dress is one of the post heavily worn pieces in my wardrobe. I never get bored of. It's a lucky dress.

Jumpsuit:

I simply cannot believe I haven't shown this jumpsuit/overalls in a post before. This is one of the coolest pieces in my wardrobe. I can't get enough of the effortless, shapeless silhouette and the undeniable swag I feel when I wear it.

It was fun to pretend, but I'm going to return to my regular, bursting at the seams, wardrobe now. But with these pieces in there, the possibilities are endless.

Thanks for reading.
