We've had a healthy dose of fashion on emeroo lately, and I wouldn't have it any other way. But I feel the need for a little slice of something different, beauty for instance. We all know how I can ramble on about fragrances, makeup, skin care and hair care products, so why not specialize this long overdue ramble by talking specifically about fall. This is the time when skin and hair get dryer, scents become deeper and brows become bolder. It's no wonder why autumn is so many people's favorite time of the year.
Waft a Confident Scent
Fragrances
are one of my most favorite things on the planet. I can't imagine a day
without wearing some scent, no matter what I'm doing. Lucky for me,
autumn is when it becomes more acceptable to wear luxurious and dark
scents which are most definitely my favorite. The two I reach for the
most during this season are YSL Black Opium and Jo Malone Blackberry and
Bay (what I would label as my signature scent).
Tame Frizzy Hair
Hair masks are the bullet proof way of nurturing your hair back to health, especially if you use heated tools regularly or if you have died hair like yours truly. For any issue involving dryness, I always turn to LUSH. The nourishing, organic ingredients always seem to deliver rich moisture wherever you need it. I would highly recommend the H'suan Wen Hua Hair Treatment to help bring your hair back to life. It's rich, oily and packed with nutrients from fresh eggs and herbs.
Calm Itchy Skin
Having dry skin is the only thing that takes the fun out of the fall and winter. No one likes the tightly pulled feeling of dehydrated skin, and as I've been struggling with another heaping of acne lately, I've been on the search for a new moisturizer that would keep my skin hydrated but not cause any break outs. The First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream is absolute perfection. Being simple with no big claims or any gimmicky ingredients as well as providing ultra hydration without feeling oily makes for the one and only moisturizer I need. Plus, It's super affordable!
Define Your Brows
We all know I'll rock a strong brow any day of the year, but when the cold weather rolls around I find that everyone tends to go a tad heavier on the brows. When this happens I just go even heavier, to stay ahead of the game. With my freshly died roots and grey/blonde hair, bold brows never looked so good! For a perfectly defined brow I will always reach for the Anastasia Beverly Hills Dip Brow Pomade in the colour taupe. If you're a beginner with filling in your eyebrows don't go straight for this product because it is crazy pigmented and requires a very light, practiced hand. After my brows are shaped I run some brow gel through to finish them off and hold them into place. Right now I'm loving the NYX brow gel. It's not the most subtle of brow gels when it comes to adding colour which I love, especially for no makeup days when you just want a bit of structure and definition.
Paint Your Pout
As per usual, everyone will be reaching for the dark, vampy lips the second the leaves start changing colour. Personally, I've been preferring a more neutral, matte shade, with a warm undertone. It seems odd, when you think about the fact that everyone loves matte lips when we're all complaining about being so dry, but for some reason a matte lip on a brisk autumn day give us a thrill like no other. I don't quite understand it, but why mess with a good thing?
Smoke Out Those Eyes
When it comes to eyes, it's all about the warm browns, sultry reds and deeps purples. I've been obsessing over this massively hyped Kat Von D pallet recently. I finally gave into buying it when I was having a bad day, went to Sephora and decided that I just didn't care whether I was jumping on a bandwagon or not.
Autumn is upon us, so drink hot cider, pick out a pumpkin, get lost in a corn maze and look great doing all of it!
Thanks for reading.
