Layering is the Key to Autumn Fashion

Have you ever wondered why transitional weather sparks an overwhelming excitement for fashion? The answer is simple and can be described in one very important word that we all need to familiarize ourselves with.
Layering.
It's easy, it's practical and it's the most full proof way of dressing for unpredictable weather.

From a warmth standpoint, layering undoubtedly provides you with the options you need while the temperature can't make up its mind. But who chooses what they wear in the morning based on warmth? Certainty not those of us who consistently tell ourselves "beauty in pain". Sure, layering keeps you one step ahead of the weather, but it also allows you to make use of every single piece in your wardrobe. Got a pair of shorts you didn't get enough wear out of this summer? Throw them on with a light knit and some over the knee boots. How about that slip dress you saw everyone wearing but never thought you could pull off until now. Layer it over a thick, cable knit turtle neck and another pair thigh high boots. These boots I speak of are crucial to your layering abilities. We must milk every moment of skirts, dresses and shorts without surrendering to goose bumps, so tights and sky high boots will be your best friends.

Your layering options are infinite. If you have a great turtle neck top like this grey one you see here, you're basically guaranteed to at least five great layered looks. Wear it under a dress like I've done here, under overalls with a trench coat, or even under a vintage band tee with some ripped skinny jeans.

More of a girly type? Start layering your blouses! A white blouse with billowing sleeves under a collard vest top gives a regal effect, and a floral print top under a sheer blouse adds cuteness while still being on trend with this seasons cold weather florals.

No matter how you do it, layering is always chic. Sometimes more is more, and the more you layer, the more it will look as if you put in tons of effort. It's positively full proof!
