I blame YouTube for my ever growing obsession with Lush and all the different beauty departments they cover. Obviously everyone knows a Lush bath bomb when they see it, with the bubble bars and bath melts coming a close second in their ability to be recognized. The bright colours and alluring scents are what draw you to a Lush store in the first place, but today I want to talk to you about the not so colourful, just as incredible products available at your local Lush store. These products are worthy of some love and attention.
Enjoy.
Skin Care
Over the past year my skin care routine has been overridden with Lush products. I remember years and years ago, before I even had the slightest interest in the beauty world, I went into Lush and was recommended a cleanser called Angels on Bare Skin. 12 year old emeroo probably assumed the young person working at Lush knew absolutely everything there was to know about skin care and bought the cleanser right then and there. Who knew that 5 years later I would wonder into Lush one day, pick up the very same cleanser purely for reminiscent purposes and fall head over heels in love!
This cleanser is everything anyone could ever need! It exfoliates in a very gentle way with ground almonds and real lavender. After washing, your skin feels soft, refreshed and thoroughly cleaned. It's perfection!
If you're in the market for something a little rougher on the skin, something to scrub away every last dead skin cell, look no further than Ocean Salt. I personally use the self-preserving version of Ocean salt because it's just a tad gentler than the original. This scrub can be used on the face and body, it smells quite citrusy and leaves your skin with a zingy, energetic feeling. Mingled with the buttery, melting cream are large flakes of pure salt that buff away impurities. It's like, salty, vacation worthy skin in a tub.
I never fully understood the purpose of toner. I've heard something to due with balancing PH levels on your skin and maybe prepping the skin for other products. I could be making all of this up. I'm not a skin care expert, just a skin care enthusiast. No matter what toner actually does, I do know that it's a very important part of your daily routine, so when I found the Lush Tea Tree Water, I was sold. It's targeted for those of us with acne, it's simple, it's affordable and it gets the job done. To me that's all I really look for in a toner, since I don't exactly know what to look for in the first place. The Eau Roma Water toner is also quite lovely, again I'm not sure what it does but it feels very fresh and revitalizing on the skin. If any of you know the exact purpose of toner, please educate all of us in the comments below.
I'll let you in on a little secret. Most of these containers and bottles are empty. Call me a hoarder, but if you're a lush fan you'll know that if you save up your empty containers you can return them for a free fresh face mask. When I finally let go of all these empties I know what mask I'll be getting, the Mask of Magnaminty. Like a clay mask, it makes your skin feel very purified and squeaky clean. This mask has become a weekly part of my skin care routine, and my skin has never looked better. Along with the mask, the Grease Lightening spot treatment has also been an essential for me lately. This little bottle never seems to run out, I can't even remember when I bought it and it's still going strong. I just apply this gel to any areas of redness or acne and it has cool, calming effect on the skin.
Lotion
I know it's rare for someone to actually moisturize their body every single day. Really, who has time for that? With Lush however, I seem to make time because the lotions smell so good that I make using them a priority. Unfortunately, this particular one called Celebrate is no longer a part of the Lush Christmas collection. I strongly considered writing an aggressive letter to Lush over this travesty. Scent aside, their hand and body lotions are so ridiculously rich and creamy your skin will basically turn to butter the second it sinks in. If that's what your looking for, then check them out!
Hair Care
I've already raved about the H'suan Wen Hua Hair Treatment mask. Do you have hair? Do you like it soft, healthy and nourished? Then you should try this! It's as simple as that. Same goes for the Sea Spray. Cheaper than Bumble and Bumble surf spray, same kind of product. Those of us with long hair will worship this product, especially in the summer time. Plus it smells incredible!
Beauty/Makeup
A lip scrub that tastes as good as it works? Yes please. This Bubblegum lip scrub takes advantage of the natural scrubbing effects of sugar and tastes like pure candy.
Who knew that Lush made Makeup? Not me, until I was flipping through the catalogue and made it all the way to the back, where apparently Lush advertises their makeup products. I instantly knew I wanted to try at least one product, just to test it out. We all know I'm on a constant hunt for great foundations, so I went for the Jackie Oats Colour Supplement. I had this feeling that Lush's organic ingredients wouldn't make me break out, and so far I've been right. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I like this product. It has a light to medium build-able coverage and a natural-dewy finish. I can't stop myself from reaching for it every morning.
I hope you all found something that caught your eye here, or at least are now aware of something new and exciting from Lush.
Thanks for reading.
