How to Pack with Limited Luggage Space

Maybe you're a light packer, but I'm the kind of girl who packs everything including the kitchen sink when getting ready for a trip. For my upcoming adventure in Vancouver, I have to dial down the ridiculous amount of stuff I normally bring. Somehow I find ways to justify bringing things like hair masks, cuticle oil or 8 bottles of Advil, just in case. I have to grow out of it at some point and maybe writing this post will give me that necessary push. When you have limited space, you have to pack the essentials only! It'll be different for everyone. For me, its vitamins, Sunday Riley Luna oil, black eye liner and a white tee shirt. What is it for you? What are you going to pack for your next trip?

When that day comes, you'll be well prepared.

Enjoy.

1. Forget About Experimenting with Style

When I go on holiday, I always want to experiment with my style and try something new. There's something about being in a new place (and by new, I mean somewhere with a fabulous lack of people I work with or went to high school with) that inspires me to go crazy with my personal style. For me, there's nothing stronger than the pull of statement clothing. I get a flood of new ideas and can't wait to test them out on my trip. However, when you have an extremely limited amount of space to pack, you have to let those couture dreams go and pack what you know and love.

2. Leave Room for Shopping

Unless I'm going camping, there's a pretty good chance I'm going to be shopping while I'm away. Normally I prefer to make use of the clothes I bring instead of neglecting them for the new ones. However, if you haven't got the room to pack a lot of your current clothes, fear not. You'll shop until you drop and have a slew of new pieces to wear while you're away as well as room to pack them.

3.Be a Minimalist

Like I said before, you have to stick to what you know when picking and choosing what to pack. Instead of planning different outfits for each day you're away, select pieces that are all in the same colour or shade range. This way, you'll have unique outfits every day of the trip while managing to wear the same pieces over again, only in different combinations. When choosing these pieces, pack things that can be multipurpose. For example, a little black dress can be dressed up for dinner with a pair of heels and a bold lip. It can also be dressed down with a leather jacket and some sneakers for a day out. Same goes for makeup, pack only favorites and stick to looks like smudgy black liner with plain skin or bare eyes and a bronzed complexion.

A few other tips to remember would be to wear your most bulky clothing while traveling to and from your destination and to roll your clothing except for bulky things like knitwear or hoodies which should be folded and flat.

Happy packing!

Thanks for reading.
