2 Looks Featuring My Best Thrift Store Finds

It pains me to admit that I used to shun the mere thought of shopping at thrift stores. In my defense, I was young and stupid and in that state of fashion obsession where if things weren't covered in labels and glitter, I had no interest. It's safe to say I've had a changed of heart and have spent the past few months exploring all that local thrift stores have to offer. The benefits of thrifting don't stop at the friendly price tags. You can always be sure that the hidden treasures won't be seen anywhere else and though they may be in need of a wash, each piece holds a history. Unlike my narrow-minded past self, the idea of my clothing holding secrets of another lifetime makes me feel like I'm showcasing the timelessness of fashion when I wear these pieces.

Before you are two of my most favorite ensembles showcasing some of my best thrift store discoveries. First we have a look that is verging on hipster with a tailored twist thanks to this epic pinstripe blazer ($4.50!). Paired with that we have this uber cool graphic tee and a stunning Victorian portrait brooch. This has quickly become my go to look of the moment.

For our second look we have the same groundwork featuring my most treasured denim and go to metal cap toe sneakers. The top half is where things get interesting. We all know how much I rely on contrasting silhouettes and styles to create eye-catching looks, this is no exception. I simply adore this feather light blouse with it's oversized stitching, beautiful gold and black button and billowing sleeves. When paired with this beaten men's denim jacket it brings the cool factor to a new level. After buying this jacket, it smelled like the ally ways in a small European town; cigarettes, rain and wet brick. Obviously I've washed it since, but the nostalgic scent lingers in my memory every time I wear this piece.

All I can say is don't underestimate the power of a thrift store. Though our wardrobes can be filled with basics pieces and trends, vintage is how you can take your personal style to the next level.

Thanks for reading.
