Catwalk to Sidewalk with Christian Dior

Imagine the most enchanting dream. Stars brighter than ever before, inky darkness covered by the richest blue sky and the twinkling of fairies and magic in the whispering trees. Well, Christian Dior Fall 17 was like living that dream. Though Maria Grazia Chiuri is fairly new to the esteemed house, everything she's done thus far has been magnificent. This collection in particular had me floating with dreamy happiness. This is the kind of collection that makes you fall in love with fashion all over again with its dreamy gowns, draping taffeta, ruffles and mesh. Something subtle that caught my eye was the navy tights. Everything from top down was blended together in mesmerizing shades of blue. Even the venue added to the illusion of swimming in this fantastical pool of waves and dreams.

Of course my favorites were the dark princess ball gowns, but there were other elements to the collection that struck me as well. Her take on the Canadian tuxedo was very trendy and very "fashion", something I'm sure we'll all be seeing on the street. The ombre blue glittering gown with the mesh bustier top was probably the most stunning thing I saw all season. Everything from the military references, subtle uses of plaid and the stand-out leather berets paved the path for a new era of Dior while keeping it very french and always inspiring. I can't wait to see what Chiuri comes up with in the future because she is bringing a new light to the brand, and I don't think it will ever be the same.

So what's my street style take on this magical collection? An adaptation of the denim on denim theme, paired with a navy polo neck long sleeve, navy tights, clunky black boots and of course, my baby pink lady Dior bag. Just like with Max Mara (read my review here), there's something satisfying about working with strictly one colour pallet, it allows the little details to shine. Like the chain and mesh lining on the edge of the jacket and the bright pop of colour in the bag. It's one of the easiest ways to create an unforgettable look.

Thanks for reading.
