If you're reading this while at work or stuck in the city in the blaze of the summer, then I thoroughly apologize for all the summer time/water eye candy. Perhaps you should imagine you're here with me. The gust of the air conditioning can be the breeze coming off the lake and running tap water could be the sound of the waves crashing on the rocky shore. Got any Jo Malone Wood Sage and Sea salt cologne lying around? Maybe give your room a good spritz too.
I'm suddenly picturing all of you standing under the AC vent in your bathrooms, taps running, with your laptop in one hand and a bottle of perfume in the other... It really does look quite silly so please, just read the post and maybe that will be enough to make you feel like your right here beside me.
There's nothing better then the feeling of immense excitement and anticipation when your waiting for something you ordered to come in the mail. A few months ago I had that feeling drawn out for weeks and weeks while I patiently waiting for my Victoria's Secret bathing suits to arrive. Finally, they did and I was beyond thrilled. All three are stunning but my favorite has to the one you see throughout this post. The highwaisted bottoms suck me in at my waist line, creating the illusion of curves on my naturally stick straight body. My "basically-not-there" bottom is just barely covered by the black panel while the geometric shape of the black emphasizes the.... area, I guess. The point is, I have never found a bathing suit with bottoms so flattering on me. On top of that, the detailing on the sides and the adorable halter top make this my most worn bikini of the summer!
What better way is there to spend the summer then to be flipping through the glossy pages of Vogue and basking in the suns warm rays. I sat there reading for hours, flip flopping back and forth from a trashy romance novel to the inspiring pages of magazines. By the end of the day I was completely exhausted. Doing nothing can really drain your energy levels. But who cares if I was lazy for a few days, isn't that what summer is all about?
I was so grateful to have my close friend Jessica come with me to my cabin on the lake. We had so much fun lazing around all day and staying up all night, chatting and laughing on the dock. The memories of all our shenanigans will stay with me forever.
Yet another day, come and gone, full of family, friends, splashes and boat rides.
I can't get over how adorable these two are together. I'm am so lucky to have spent the weekend away with them.
Unlike the rest of my family, I was lacking bravery when it came to the cliff jumping part of our day. Though I have jumped off these rocks in the past, that was a long time ago, back when I was a young and easily convinced little girl.
The water at Christina lake is not only the cleanest and the warmest in BC, it is also home for me and my family. For all my life we have summered here and I can not think of a place I'd rather be on these hot hot days. Everyday spent here is one of relaxation. It is truly the perfect place to be after a particularly difficult week of work (or five weeks in my case).
All we do here is sit all day, lazing around reading, napping or playing cards. When you start to get hot and your feel like your brain is melting from all the zen, you jump in the water and it is like you are reborn and ready to start the routine all over again.
I hope you are all having a lazy, wonderful summer!
Thanks for reading
-Emily
