I can't even begin to explain how long the first day of our trip felt.
After waking up at 3 in the morning to head off to the airport, our
flight was delayed for over an hour. The fact that I could have
slept another hour and still made it to the flight on time was killing
me.
Finally we got off the ground and were on our way to
Calgary. Flying is never the most pleasant experience for me but that
flight was only about 45 mins so what do I have to complain about.
Because of our delay we were forced to sprint through the airport (home alone
style) to make our connecting flight to Phoenix. Luckily we made it on
time, I even had enough time to sneak away from my family long enough to
look in the duty free section and smell some of the gorgeous perfumes
(I am now obsessed with Marc Jacobs Dot, definitely getting that on the
way back ;).
Our second flight was much longer and much more
difficult. My anxiety was heightened the same way it is every time I
fly. No matter, we landed and are here safe and sound, just in case you
were worried).
I could go on and on about the rest of our
crazy day. How we lost our luggage, didn't realize it until we were at
the hotel, drove all the way back to the airport, ran around the airport
looking for the bag, finally finding the bag and going back to the
hotel extremely relieved but exhausted just the same, but I won't bore
you with the details.
Our time here so far has definitely taken a turn for the better
since our eventful day of traveling. So far we have hit up Target and
Ulta, two places I was very eager to visit. But there's no way I could
come all the way down here and only go to two stores. Even though this
trip isn't exactly about me and my shopping desires, I will make sure we
find the time. There's a Barney's here for goodness sake!
You're probably wondering what the purpose of this trip was, if not
solely for shopping. Truly we are here to drop off my sister who is
doing a semester of university at Arizona State! So far we've checked
into her residence, toured the campus and met her roommate. It feels
strange to be in such a stereotypical American university.
I don't mean that in a bad way at all! I'm actually starting to think I
might like to go to a big university like this one day.
It literally feels like I've stepped onto
the set of Sydney White. I'm talking sororities and fraternities
galore. It's very interesting, that's for sure. Something else that's
interesting is the fact that I thought it was hot when I left Kelowna,
when it was about 35 degrees Celsius, 37 tops. Here in Phoenix it's been
about 48. It's getting to a point where I never want it to be summer
ever again. I'm having day dreams about a snow storm cloud that could
hover above my head at all times, just like in that old episode of
Wizards of Waverly Place, I think the heat is really going to my head.
Luckily I was able to handle the heat long enough and take
a few pictures for you guys.
The ASU campus is absolutely beautiful. If it wasn't so ridiculously sweaty outside I couldn't have spent hours wondering around the lush little town. Everywhere you turn there's a courtyard to study in or gushing water fountains surrounded by industrial style
cement lounge chairs.
Please excuse my closed eyes, haha!
You'll be glad to know that I did make it to Barneys, YAY! Stores like that make me feel like a little kid in a candy store. Some people may look at the extremely high price tags and feel like there's no point even looking in this ridiculous store. There's no way I could afford anything from Barneys right now, but I like to take my time in these kinds of stores to plan for the future. One day I'll walk out of Barneys with the biggest bag they've got.
Hope everyone likes my new purple hair! This is its first debut on emeroo (hey, that rhymed).
Thanks for reading.
