Catwalk-To-Sidewalk With Alexader McQueen

Who doesn't love ruffles? We may pretend to be all about the grunge, the athleisure or the model-off-duty style choices right now, but it is vital that we never forget about the things that centered our universe when we were young. Ruffles, pink, frill, and everything else that inhabits the world of girlishness.

In Alexander McQueen's spring 2016 collection, I was completely floored with perfect mixture of both past and present femininity. The dresses were a nod to the 18th century, being high necked and draped in ruffles. Popular Gothic themed accessories, including tons of body jewelry, balanced out the royally reminiscent garments. Fringe was shown in a way that wasn't at all 70's or equestrian but rather delicate. Denim was also thrown into the mix, covered in embroidery which, to me, looked almost a bit oriental. Clogs made of canvas or denim took a trip down the runway. Not everyone's cup of tea but I thought they were perfect for the season. My overall favorite look from the collection was a gorgeous, metallic rose biker jacket zipped up over a blush, ruffled maxi skirt.

A constant mixture of vintage vibes and the rocker chic we love so much today kept the collection relevant. Of course, I have a weak spot for biker jackets and statement jewelry, but it was the soft, girly pieces that made this collection stand out to me. The florals were stunning, small bunches of flowers that looked as though they were hand painted. Again, the ruffles blew me away with their intricacy and layering. Watching this show, I took one glance and fell in love. I instantly knew that I wanted to take inspiration from these looks for a blog post. I highly recommend taking a peak at this line.

Enjoy.

When I saw this dress on ASOS.com the blush color, feminine silhouette and of course, the ruffles, reminded me of the collection I loved so much from Fashion Weeks past.  Though much simpler, the themes run parallel.

When putting together this look, I considered the accessories throughout the collection and decided to sport a vintage, patent leather cross body bag. The python stripe and sharp zig zag cut of the flap added just enough of the classy edginess I was after. As for the shoes, my wardrobe is clearly lacking in the clog department, so I decided to stick with the canvas and went for these wedges.

Even the tiniest nod to something seen on the runway is a way for me to connect with the world that I love so much. I hope you as well can find inspiration for your style, whether that come from the catwalk, or right here on emeroo.

Thanks for reading.
