I don't think I've ever bought this much makeup all at once. This certainly is a day to remember. With endless amounts of events coming up this time of year, (grad, weddings, endless summery parties) investing in some luxury beauty products is totally justifiable right?
For me, grad is fast approaching and I needed products that would stand the test of time. For a non-stop hot summer day with constant smiling and tons of pictures, one needs makeup that will stay in place and not melt away throughout the day. Keeping this in mind, I've concocted a makeup formula that when added together should make for a glowing, bronzy, long lasting look.
Here's what I picked up.
Enjoy.
One of the best things about department store beauty counters is that they always have special deals waiting to be snatched up. Today I spotted a great one from Estée Lauder including a generous sample size of the Take It Away Makeup Remover Lotion, Night Repair Serum, Day Wear Moisturizer, mascara and a lipstick. Needless to say I was able to find something I suddenly needed from Estée Lauder in order to meet the minimum price to get the gift. Shopping addict manipulation or one heck of a deal, either way, I'm satisfied.
What did I pick up from the Estée counter you may wonder? I definitely got my fill of the beloved Bronze Goddess line. The second I saw the limited edition Bronze Goddess Summer Glow Multi Pallet I fell instantly in love for one simple reason, the blush looked just like Tease. If you're unfamiliar, Tease was an extremely popular limited edition blush from Estée Lauder that every YouTuber and their mother, sister and neighbour raved about. I sadly didn't come to hear about this beauty until it had already been discontinued. Heartbreaking. Since the blush in this pallet looked extremely similar, I jumped on it. After that I started browsing the fragrances and was struck by the shimmering beauty of the Bronze Goddess Shimmering Body Oil Spray. When the lovely lady at the counter told me it had the same nostalgic, summery scent as the cult Bronze Goddess fragrance, I was sold. I'll definitely been a glowing bronze goddess the day of grad, well that's the plan anyhow.
I'm not a huge primer girl, but I knew it would be smart to have a trustworthy base for the long day ahead. I decided to go for the ever so popular Becca Backlight Priming Filter, to help with my desired glow and help my foundation stick. Speaking of foundation, I finally picked up the Makeup Forever Ultra HD Foundation. This is quite long over-due, but I knew this was the right time to get it because it's lightweight, high coverage and super long lasting. What more could you want for a long summer's day? Just to be extra sure that my makeup will be glued to my face, I picked up the Urban Decay All-Nighter Makeup Setting Spray. Now, I may need a chisel to get all this off, but if I look beautiful, I think it's worth it.
With the stress of getting ready the day of a big event, eye makeup can take a hit. Somehow my eye makeup always looks on point the days when I have absolutely no where to go and then suddenly it decides to go crazy when I really need to look presentable. Based on this terminology, I've decided to go with an extremely simple eye makeup for grad, keeping with the glowing summer goddess theme. Firstly, I grabbed the Laura Mercier Caviar Stick Eye Colour. I originally had my eyes set on a similar product from Marc Jacobs, but since it was out of stock in my desired colour, I turned to Laura. The colour I grabbed is Rose gold, (though it looks more champagne to me) either way it is gorgeous. After that I thought my lashes needed some love so I snatched a tube of Lancôme Grandiose waterproof mascara, another product that will be bullet proof the day of grad. I know I didn't need to get yet another mascara as I continued shopping (Estée Lauder Double Wear) but heck, as long as they stay un opened you can crack them out whenever you like! And a girl always needs a good mascara.
Everyone has their weaknesses when it comes to shopping. There are always a few products that you're drawn to and some how always end up at the counter with you, no matter how many you have at home. For me, these products are jackets, bronzer, chocolate and anything that goes on the lips. I have a strange fascination with lip balms and own roughly a million, not to mention my endless love for lipstick, lip liner, lip gloss, lip stain, etc, etc. Today I only picked up three pout painters, which is nothing short of a miracle. Firstly I have the MAC Pro-Longwear Lip Liner in the colour Double-Time, a gorgeous peachy nude. For lipstick, I popped over to the Chanel counter. How could anyone resist the glossy black beacon that is Chanel? I ended up with the Rouge Coco Ultra Hydrating Lip Colour in the shade 402 Adrienne. I was satisfied with my purchases until I turned and saw the Dior counter, directly beside Chanel. Instantly I was drawn to the gorgeous packaging of the Dior Addict Lip Gloss. So what if the colour I got (369 Tell Me Dior) doesn't go with my theme for grad? Look at that pink, are you telling me that you don't need that stunning pink gloss in your life? If you are, you need to set your priorities straight.
What a haul that was! Too much makeup you may think. But for me, it's just right. Don't feel guilty about treating you and your face to some luxury makeup every once in a while, especially if you have an event coming up.
Happy shopping!
Thanks for reading.
