Graduation Style

The day you start looking forward to the minute you step foot into high school, graduation day. Not just a day for aching feet and endless picture taking, but a day for celebration and honoring.  Yes, speeches are made about the future and all that we have accomplished, and glasses are raised to the graduating class, but naturally, my favorite part of the day was the style and beauty.

When approaching my graduation style and beauty choices, I tried to be as original as possible. I didn't have a set image in my mind of what I wanted my dress to look like, but the second I saw this dress on ASOS, I fell head over heels in love. That same day I placed the order, without even considering anything else, and that was when the Greek inspired, golden goddess look came to mind.

A few weeks later I had the most beautiful taffeta gown hanging in my closet and had consulted with my hair dresser on what on earth to do with my hair. Not that there's anything wrong with the classic messy low side bun or soft curls, but I wanted to do something totally outside the box. I asked her for something that no one else would have, and she delivered. Like my dress, we decided on the braided crown with loose front pieces about five minutes into the appointment and never looked back.

Finally, I had my dress picked out, my nude suede block heels on their way (also from ASOS), and it was time to start thinking about makeup. I decided to do my own makeup not just to save money but to make sure I had exactly what I wanted. Simple and classic was the goal, to achieve that goal I went for a dewy base, tons of bronzer, a pinch of peach on the cheeks, glints of champagne highlight, peach all over the lids with bronzer in the crease, and huge fluttery lashes. I was totally smitten with the overall look, but the cherry on top had to be the stunning peachy nude Chanel lipstick, it pulled everything together. Check out my previous post for all the products I used. As well as piling bronzer on my face I also brought it down the neck, over the shoulders and on the décolletage, topping it off with a spritz of Estée Lauder Bronze Goddess Shimmering Body Oil Spray. I truly felt like I was beaming from the inside out, and who doesn't want to have that feeling on a special day like grad?

It didn't matter if I had a massive break out the day before grad, or that I woke up to find a tiny stain on the front of my dress, the day was perfect regardless. I've left these photos UN-edited so you get the real image of what this day looked like for me, lopsided eye lashes and all. If you have a graduation in the future, or any sort of event, I want to make it perfectly clear that something will inevitably go wrong, but that is unavoidable, and shouldn't ruin the day. If you feel beautiful, your happiness will out shine all the mishaps and blips throughout the day.

Thanks for reading.
