3 Wardrobe Pieces You Didn't Know You Needed

Summer is in full swing, and though we may be pining for fall wardrobes and pumpkin spice lattes, we still have a few weeks left of summer weather and summer style.

Today I have for you a few of my current style essentials. These pieces all surprised me with their versatility. To you they may seem totally outside of the box or on the other hand, quite basic. For me, they hit somewhere right in the middle, easy and wearable while still standing out.

Sun Hats

When I was young, wearing a hat in the summer time was always a pain. Maybe because my mom was always telling me to wear one, and who wants to listen to their mothers when it comes to fashion at a young age? Possibly it was because I thought I might look cooler with only oversized sunglasses and a sun kissed face. I eventually figured out that my fair skin would never gain the glow I wanted.

Needless to say, I've set aside the pride my stubborn past self once had, and started wearing hats. Who knew they could add so much to an outfit while still being practical in the sun? They add an easy, breezy, summer holiday vibe to the simplest of looks. I love them for an evening out, sitting out on a patio, sipping a cold drink while the sun sets.
Don't feel like doing your hair or putting on makeup? Worry not, we've all been there and the wide brim of your sun hat will hide everything while leaving you looking chic and ready to jet off to the tropics.

Overalls

I'm not going to lie, overalls used to always remind me of Fern from Charlotte's Web. I never wanted to be a simple farm girl. Recently however, I have seen the denim trend in a whole new light. Styling them for the city rather than the country won me over. Now they are one of my most worn pieces from the past three months. Never once have I gone out in these and not gotten a compliment. Not that that should be the reason we wear certain pieces, but it never hurts.

Slippers/Something Snakeskin

Comfort is key this season. This statement rings particularly true when it comes to the slipper trend. It's impossible to look through recent street style photography without spotting it-girls and fashion gurus alike wearing a simple slip on. Gucci even started lining theirs with fur, upping the comfort factor to a whole new level. This has to be one of the easiest trends to get on board with this summer.

We have a two for one in this post! Not only do these ASOS shoes check the slipper box, they also fall under the oh so fabulous category of "something snakeskin". Like cheetah or leopard, snakeskin adds punch and edge to any look, without any blinding colours. For this summer and the coming fall, there's nothing more sophisticated and eye-catching than snakeskin.

"Python's hot right now"! 100 brownie points for whoever can tell me in the comments what movie that is from.

Thanks for reading.
