Catwalk-to-Sidewalk with Oscar de la Renta

With Peter Copping's departure from the iconic house of Oscar de la Renta, it seemed only right to showcase some inspiration taken from his latest collection, Resort 2017. Out of all the Resort collections, I was easily the most drawn to Copping's, mainly because of it's girly flair and innovative use of tweed and other fall fabrics. Speaking of flare, the flared skirts shown in the collection instantly caught my eye, as they set a regal, high class tone for all the looks. Paired with the ruffled blouses, delicate floral patters and intricate lace, I'd say these pieces would be right at home in the closet of Blair Waldorf. I would highly recommend experiencing this collection for yourself.

Enjoy.

My take on this collection incorporates the shapes more so than the colours. Though the vivid greens and subtle use of hot pink was brilliant, the moment I saw this skirt on ASOS I knew it needed to be the grounding piece for this post. It was perfectly reminiscent of this collection along with this cropped vest top with the pleating on the front. I'm always one to push the use of colour, but for this, neutrals were simply too irresistible. To cover my bare, highly burnable shoulders, I threw on a cropped military style jacket. Not exactly something shown in this particular collection but easily applicable to de la Renta's structured, traditional ways. As far as accessories, some simple Coach espadrille wedges should do the trick. Swing a brightly coloured bag over your shoulder and you're all set.

As we all patiently wait for September and the impending fashion weeks, Resort 2017 can feed our hunger for fashion in the mean time. Check out all the incredible collections this year had to offer (I also loved Tommy Hilfiger), but pay special attention to all that Peter Copping has accomplished while designing for this timeless fashion house.

Thanks for reading.
