Trend Alert: SNEAKERS

Photography: Venessa Thorsen

Before I start rambling I'd like to apologize for my recent leave of absence from blogging. First I was dealing with technical difficulties which turned into a much needed vacation which then turned into me wasting my time. I should have started up again over a week ago but I didn't have my priorities straight. It's easy to get caught up in things, and forget what really matters. I wasn't putting my energy where I should, which is right here. So I am very sorry about that. Now I'm back and ready to put everything I have into emeroo, the way it should be.

More then any post I've ever done, I feel as though this one is the longest overdue. Finally, I've gotten around to dedicating a post to what can only be described as emeroo's top trend of 2016. Looking back over this year so far I can say without fail that sneakers have been the stand out piece in my wardrobe. They've not only kept my feet comfortable and supported unlike many other shoes I could have been wearing. But they have also brought new style inspiration and endless new ideas to my wardrobe. As the year has gone on, my obsession has only grown. When putting together an outfit I start with the basics, then add a coat or jacket if needed, then accessories and then finish with shoes. Not a day has gone by that I don't think to myself "could I get away with wearing my sneakers with this?" It's gotten to a point that I feel as though I'm neglecting my other shoes!

Dresses and skirts seem to be my most common pieces to pair with sneakers, a look not always understood by the masses. I'm sure I've gotten some odd looks when I go out in something delicate like a slip dress paired with a not so delicate pair of trainers. But that's the beauty of it! Putting together pieces that contrast in texture, pattern or theme create the most interesting of outfits. Sure, I could wear my sneakers with some jean shorts and a tee, something common and easy. But I wouldn't feel as though I was wearing the shoes to their full potential. For such a simple item in one's wardrobe, they offer endless possibilities for inventive and modern looks.

Check back every Sunday and Wednesday for new posts!

Thanks for reading.
