Who else wants to talk about Stranger Things?
Yet another phenomenon has come but this time I've surprisingly (albeit, reluctantly) hopped on the bandwagon. Although, if you know me at all, you'll know that when I do get on board with something, I become fully immersed. I'm not the kind of girl to, in this case, casually watch the show once and then get over it. I'm definitely more inclined to become scarily obsessed, watch every season at least twice, watch interviews with the cast, analyze potential future plot lines, and obviously come up with perfect love stories for the characters I've decided should end up together. Where's the fun in doing things to half of your potential, or not trying to squeeze every ounce of goodness out of something you enjoy while you can?

Within
the last month, as my obsession with Stranger Things has grown, I've
started to notice how the show's recognizable eighties flare has
influenced my personal style. Considering how important fashion is in my
day to day routine, it's not surprising that when a particular topic is
active in my subconscious, it will show in how I dress. I've never
before thought of this era a source of inspiration for my personal style. How
naive of me! The double denim, mom jeans, shearling lined corduroy
jackets and the sneakers with thick rolled white socks; it all seams to
scream "emeroo" from the later half of 2017. There is so much more than
themes of friendship and the importance of owning a nail studded
baseball bat to learn from this show, fashion included.
What seems most strange (yes, I understand the punny choice of words) about picking out bits of style from the show is that I look to the male charterers equally as much as the female ones. Who doesn't love Nancy and Barb? But there's something to be said about the styling and silhouettes used on characters like Steve and Billy as well. This era has so much more to offer than leg warmers and loud prints (though there is nothing wrong with those quintessential styles). The shopping necessary to incorporate 80s teen style into your wardrobe is far too easy not to do. Such a strong pop culture obsession with a show set in the 80s gives us all the incentive to head out to our local thrift store and pick up some multi coloured, windbreaker bomber jackets that crowd those racks. Vintage Levis, white tennis shoes and chunky turtle necks are just a few more Hawkins appropriate items to look out for.
